About Me

Driven by curiosity and a love for reading, music, and the outdoors, my life has taken me down many a strange path. What follows is a quick rundown of the basic facts and some of the diverse (and sometimes odd) things I’ve been known for.

For a more lengthy and detailed version of my life, please check out my blog post, My Story So Far.

For a more detailed list of my work over the years, please see my Credits and Appearances page.

Childhood

Born in Springfield, Illinois, I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. My father was a homebuilder and my mother was a noted cross stitch designer. I am an only child.

Cycling

From early high school on into college I was an avid cyclist. I raced both USCF and NORBA races and was an Intermediate Georgia State Road Champion. In college, I was a founding member of the University of Georgia Cycling Club – which would eventually become the UGA Cycling Team.

College

I graduated with a B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1989. I was incredibly fortunate to experience the intensely creative and supportive music and arts scene of Athens, Georgia in the 1980s.

Fly Fishing

I was a professional fly fishing guide out of Matlacha, Florida from 2003 to 2008. I was also an FFF Certified Fly Casting Instructor and performed many casting demos at outdoor shows around Florida.

Kayak Fishing

A pioneer of the sport, I started kayak fishing around 2004 and joined the Ocean kayak Pro Staff shortly thereafter. I appeared in many magazine articles, videos, and promotional materials for the sport as well as making appearances at outdoor shows all around the country.

Writing

I have written countless articles for outdoor magazines, newspapers, and websites, and contributed a chapter to a book on kayak fishing.

I have also written a novel, Love’s Naked Nature, and a screenplay version of the novel that was a Semi-finalist in the 2013 BlueCat Screenplay Competition.

Photography

Although photography was never a focus (sorry for the bad pun), my work appeared in many fishing and kayaking  magazines (usually accompanying articles I wrote), as well as promotional materials for a leading outdoors company.

Currently

I reside in Athens, Georgia where I work remotely, specializing in blogging, web analytics, and SEO for Blink;Tech, a web development and digital marketing company based in Florida.
